“Arhipelag” is more than just an art gallery, it is a place where you will always find authentic art, music for the soul and an armchair in which to linger and please your eyes.
The artists we represent are carefully chosen. They do not necessarily belong to any trend or current. Whether they are painters, sculptors, graphic or tapestry artists, they will always have something in common: the quality art which is still made in Cluj and in Transylvania and that we intend to show to Europe and the whole world.
Young or less young, famous or still unknown, at the beginning of their artistic journey or towards the end of their career, whenever we find artists that make authentic art we shall not be indifferent, because true art has no age and no country. The world’s artists are like islands in an archipelago: by themselves and yet together. Many times without even being aware of each other’s existence. Each with his or her piece of land over which they reign forever. Haunted by inner storms but also bathing in the sunlight, they rule over the most fertile land on the planet: the unique realm of thrills, emotions and beauty. A place where we, as art lovers, may have access but where we will never ever reign!
We wish that every onlooker would find a shred of emotion in all the exhibitions from the “Arhipelag” Gallery. When there is no emotion, nor any inner urge to contemplate or take home a work of art, it means the art is not authentic. Because art is the freest thing in the world and it is the last one to be captured in stereotypes.
When we buy art, we should never imagine that it belongs to us. In reality we belong to it because art will live longer than us all. We are its mere keepers for a period of time and eventually art may be the only valuable thing we leave to our descendants.
